For centuries those who admire the natural beauty of wood have relied on Tung oil. Tung oil is produced by harvesting the nuts from the tung tree which is indigenes to China. Chinese merchants used Tung oil back in the 14th century to waterproof and protect wooden ships from the eroding powers of the sea. Tung oil never loses elasticity and penetrates deep into the pores of the wood, it's smaller molecules penetrate even the densest of woods. It remains elastic and moves with wood during the changes in seasons and is easy to maintain. The oil creates a remarkable, durable, hand rubbed lustre and only takes minutes to apply. Application
You will need a lamswool applicator brush to apply the Tung oil Tung oil can be applied directly to unfinished floors or after the floors have been stained Stain can be added to Tung oil, thus eliminating time consuming steps You must wait 24 hours before applying another coat Tung oil is applied in a wipe-on wipe-off method with a short drying time in between After the wipe-off and the coat has dried completely (24 hours in between coats) 0000 steel wool is used to remove surface irregularities, and the process is repeated Depending on the look your trying to achieve, you'll apply 3-4 coats in this manner Years from now when your floors need to be refreshed, the job will be quicker, easier, less expensive and without the mess of having to sand the floors. Simply re-apply another coat of Tung oil and your done!
