Maintenance Polyurethane Hard Wax Oil Tung Oil About Our Flooring |
Regular maintenance and a few preventative measures will help you protect your new wide plank flooring for many years. Maintenance consists of sweeping and vacuuming frequently to remove dust and abrasive materials such as sand. To clean stains, and help maintain the floors shine, spray some manufacturers approved cleaner directly onto the floor or the mop and apply it in the direction of the floorboards.
Don't use oil-based detergents, wax or other household cleaners that can tarnish the urethane finish or leave a thin coat on the surface. A polyurethane finished floor should never be waxed.
To prevent scratches, place a carpet inside each door thai gives outside access. Place a doormat outside of the main entrance. These will capture the bulk of the soil, sand and smaII pebbles before they make their way into the house. Place covers, under chairs, tables and other furniture legs.
To prevent water and other liquid damage, wipe up spills as quickly as possible. Place carpets ncar the sink and dishwasher to act as a barrier to spills. Use a mop or humid cloth to wash the floor instead of more traditional mops or sponges that Ieave a surplus of water on the floor.
To hide scratches, rub them with a wax crayon of the appropriate color and follow with a bit of varnish. For deeper scratches you may need to change the entire board, it usually only works well with pre-varnished flooring.
After a few years, natural wear and tear will mar a floors finish. The suggested refinishing technique consists of a light sanding on the surface to improve the bonding capacity of one or two new coats of varnish.
So now you have gone over these sensible points that will allow you to not only choose the right wood for the room and home, but also the one that's the nearest to your heart. The choices are extensive and affordable, find one that fits into your budget.
