About Our Flooring

Hard wax oil is another alternative to polyurethane It makes your floors more resistant to household chemicals, including dampness, dust and dirt Never has to be re-sanded, Hard Wax Oil is spot repairable Environmentally friendly, completely Benzene-free Consisting of linseed oil and low odor mineral spirits, non toxic, off gassing minimal meaning you can enjoy your floor soon after application has been complete Hard wax oil produces an open pore finish which will give the floor the ability to breath Unlike Tung oil and Polyurethane Hard Wax Oil has no UV protection

Application
You will need a floor brush, paint tray and some rags Hard wax oil must be applied to a clean surface.

Try not to lift the brush when stroking into the finished areas, feather the brush upwards gently. Stopping and lifting can leave brush marks behind The feathering technique will help spread the coat evenly, always feather edges to blend sections. Hard Wax Oil usually becomes tacky in 10-15 minutes, before this occurs look back over the work and distribute any excess materials with the floor brush.

2nd Coat
Hard Wax Oil only requires 2 coats. The 2nd coat should only be applied after the first coat is completely dry (usually 24hrs). To test, rub a small section with fine steel wool or a green Scotchbrite pad. If the finish produces a white powder, it's ready for the final coat. The 2nd coat can be applied without sanding if the first coat has been properly applied. If too much was applied, the excess must be sanded. If there is any question, you can't go wrong by lightly abrading the entire first coat until the surface is evenly dull. A red scotchbrite pad will work well. Very shiny areas may require a more aggressive abrasive. Vacuum thoroughly, then apply the second coat the same as the first. The floor can be walked on 24hrs after final coat, carpets should not be put down until a week after the final coat.
